St Mark's title challenge finally faltered in a must win match against Glenville in Ringsend Park on saturday last. Congratulations to Glenville and thanks to everyone who was involved with St Mark's this season.

07 May 2008-Marino 1 St Mark's 1

As it was earlier in the season, another physical battle was played out against marino in St Anne's park yesterday. Marino played with a very direct robust style and Mark's had to be up for the fight. The result leaves both teams with an outside chance of the title. Marino went ahead with a soft header after Mark's had failed to clear the area. Mark's scored straight from the restart when Damien O'Neill slotted his sixth goal of the season. The away side had a chance to take all three points when they were awarded a penalty, but the Marino keeper saved well. Rod brady pulled off couple of excellent late saves. John D as usual punched well above his weight. There were many contenders, but Norman Noonan shaded the man of the match award.

20 April 2008-Dundrum 2 St Mark's 1

Mark's title challenge hit a bump in the road when they went down 2-1 away to Dundrum. Maybe it was the altitude or the cold easterly wind, but Mark's never got going. Still - it's not over 'til the fat lady sings which will be in four matches time. It's time for everyone to pull together and give it a go to the end of the season. Damien O'Neill netted for St. Marks.

13 April 2008-St Mark's 3 Dundrum 2

St Mark's defeated their perennial bogey team Dundrum Athletic 3-2 in Ringsend Park yesterday to go ten games unbeaten this season. Dundrum, playing their usual neat and tidy passing game, provided stiff opposition and for the first twenty mins it was nip and tuck. Ian Mc Manus then struck from the edge of the area with a well taken volley. Five mins later John Dooley rose like Apollo 11 to head in a Stephen Corcoran corner from six yards. Dundrum pulled one back after the break when Kieron Kelly slotted home a glancing header. Marks went 3-1 up when Rob Nicholson drove home an Ian McManus shot that the keeper failed to hold. Dundrum added one from a sloppy free kick on the whistle to make it 3-2. As usual there were many strong performances but the Man of the Match was Ian McManus.

30 March 2008-Glenville 1 St Mark's 1

St Mark's earned a creditable draw away to table toppers Glenville in a near gale yesterday. It was 0-0 until a minute to half time when Dave Brown was unfortunate to turn a cross into his own goal. After the break, St Mark's applied more pressure and got their reward through a Damien O'Neill headed goal. There were plenty of good performances, but man of match award goes to John Dooley.

08 March 2008-St Mark's 3 Greystones 1

The Mark's winning streak continued in Ringsend Park yesterday with a 3-1 victory over Greystones. It was, as seems usual this year, very blustery beside the Liffey which made good football almost impossible. Despite this the home team put in a good display with three excellent goals. John Henderson and Pearse Walpole opened their accounts with two well taken goals. Jonathan Scanlan became joint leading scorer with a well taken six yard header from a corner. A special mention for the Greystones 'keeper who pulled off a series of excellent saves. NEXT MATCH SAT 29TH MAR.

02 March 2008-St Marks Go 2nd

St Marks continued the recent good run of form with a 4-0 win over Ely Killala at Sportslink yesterday.A corner count of about 15 to 3 is indicative of the territorial domination that Marks enjoyed. Even still,it took an own goal to get the scoring going. After that goals from Damien O'Neill, Harry Walpole and Jonathan Scanlan completed the scoring.Jonathan's goal must be a contender for goal of the season. Advancing from his own half on to a through ball, he struck a shot from 30 yards with the outside of his right foot that went in off the underside of the bar.

St Mark's beat Ely Killala 2-0 in Ringsend Park today courtesy of a Jonathan Smyth penalty and a Killala own goal. The match was scrappy with no real pattern. On balance, Marks's deserved their victory having missed many chances. Man of the match for St Mark's was keeper Rod Brady.

02 February 2008-St Marks 4 John Hayes Utd 1

St Mark's scored a handsome win against table toppers John Hayes United today. In a devastating 15 minute spell in the first half, Mark's scored four times. Stephen Corcoran converted a penalty to leave matters all square.

25 November 2007-Links 3 St Mark's 1

St Mark's advance to the third round of the Jim Byrne Cup with a win on penalties away to Garden County in Bray. Garden County went ahead with a speculative shot from outside the box. St Mark's equalized with a great goal from Jonathan Scanlan . Winning the ball just inside his own half he advanced half the length of the field to slot the ball home. 23 September 2007-Sad News

St Mark's player Rob Walpole lost his mother Maureen recently. We send our deepest sympathies to him and his family. St Mark's lost a great friend when Richie Daly died suddenly and tragically on saturday last. Richie played with us every week in UCD Belfield on thursday nights. Although in his early sixties, he taught us all a lesson with his skill and ability. He was a true gentleman, always a pleasure to be with and did not have a malicious bone in his body. He will be greatly missed by us all. We extend our deepest sympathy to his son Kevin and all his family and friends.

After a defensive error, Marino took the lead against the run of play with a drive from the edge of the box.The Mark's equalizer came from Rob Nicholson(Nico) after a fine 4 man move down the left. All in all a tough battle with a draw being a fair result. Marino won't be too far off the mark come the end of the season.
